Justice for Kassandra Jackson: Demand Accountability Now

In 2018, Kassandra Jackson—an Ohio mother seeking protection for herself and her children—was violently assaulted by former Hamilton County Magistrate Michael Bachman. What began as a routine court appearance turned into a traumatic, unlawful act of brutality that has gone unpunished for nearly seven years.

While attempting to file a protection order, Kassandra—a single mother of two toddlers—was physically grabbed by Magistrate Bachman after a noise was heard in the hallway. Surveillance footage later revealed that he stepped off the bench, unlawfully exited the courtroom, and forcefully grabbed her by the neck for over 20 seconds before slamming her into a jury chair. He then ordered deputies to violently detain her under the guise of contempt of court.

Following public outrage and the release of courthouse security footage, Bachman was forced to resign on September 4, 2018—but no charges have ever been filed against him or the deputies involved. Kassandra was wrongly treated as a criminal, held in contempt, and left with lasting emotional and physical trauma. Despite finally being acknowledged as a victim, she continues to suffer without accountability or restitution.

We are calling on elected officials and the public to act. Enough is enough.

Our Demands:

1. Immediate Criminal Charges:
Michael Bachman and the deputies involved in the unlawful physical arrest of Kassandra Jackson must be formally charged, terminated, and prosecuted. Their pensions should be revoked for misconduct and abuse of power.

2. Full Financial Compensation:
Kassandra must be compensated for wrongful arrest, physical harm, emotional trauma, and continued hardship. The government must issue a minimum payment of $100,000 for ongoing damages, with additional compensation as deemed appropriate by the courts.

3. Independent Investigation:
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine must publicly acknowledge this injustice. A special prosecutor must be appointed—by Mayor Aftab Pureval or relevant city leadership—to launch an independent investigation into the actions of the Hamilton County Courthouse and Sheriff’s Department. An internal review is not acceptable.

4. Reform Protection Order Laws:
The legal loophole used to deny Kassandra’s request for protection—the “late can’t be served” rule—violates the basic constitutional right to safety and due process. We demand federal legislation banning arbitrary time limits on protection orders to ensure no one else is denied protection because of outdated policy.

5. Federal Compensation for Hardship:
The State of Ohio and the federal government must pay a minimum of $100,000 to Kassandra Jackson for years of hardship, trauma, and systemic failure. This is not only compensation—it is recognition.

Kassandra Jackson is not just a mother. She is a survivor, a citizen, and a human being who was brutally wronged by the very system meant to protect her. This case is a chilling reminder that unchecked power leads to injustice—and that justice delayed is still justice denied.

Let’s make sure her name is not forgotten. Let’s demand action now.

Say her name. Share her story. Demand justice.
