Save Our Rail advises that there will be a smoking ceremony in Enterprise Park, opposite Newcastle Railway Station, Saturday 9am. The ceremony, conducted by Bill Smith of the Awabakal People, is to sanction the presence of the Hunter Concerned Citizens and associated groups on Aboriginal land, and to give approval to the groups' intention of maintaining the current seamless rail connection to Newcastle Station. The Awabakal people want to keep trains on the corridor. They do want the rail cut at Wickham - or at any other location!
