Newcastle Now has been activating Newcastle's vacant shops; it's an organic process which mirrors the organic growth of the city itself since early times and it is precisely what Baird's plans will put at risk.
Digital artist Andrew Finnie has a big commission for the Newcastle Now Advent Calender, revealing one image a day for 24 days.
He says that a selfie with these images in the window of the Old David Jones building in Wolfe Street would make a great Christmas Card!
The individual images feature Santa and his companions visiting Newcastle's sights. There's a competition involving the images and something for both kids and adults in each. Not to mention a few hidden messages.
The big opening event is Thursday night with carols and entertainment, starting at the old Post office from 5.30 til 8.30. There's a slide show projected on the wall opposite the Wolfe Street windows as well as many decorated Christmas windows.
The Advent Calender itself goes till Dec 24th.
There was a small article about in the paper today.
