The government has today announced plans to integrate public transport in Newcastle! A private operator will run Newcastle buses, the Stockton Ferry, and a light rail/tram system to replace the Great Northern Railway west of Stewart Avenue and the present Wickham Station. From the new Wickham Interchange and Rail terminal on the western side of Stewart Avenue crossing, the light rail will run on part of the rail corridor and then become a tram on Hunter and Scott Sts just east of Union St terminating just past Newcastle Rail Station outside the Joy Cummings Centre;
