This petition should be an issue to everyone so everyone should be inclined to at least read. Tami Tobey is an elite citizen of midlothian and owns several businesses. In 2012 she was caught taking part in Blackface but the photo was brought to light only recently. Her heart may not have had nefarious intentions however the fact that this egregious oversight could even take take place is a huge red flag. 2012 was not 100 years ago. This photo shows an elected official not only taking part in a decades old racist act, but feeling ever so comfortable doing it. 
The “All Lives Matter” idea cannot exist until our black brothers and sisters lives are out of danger from police brutality. A race of people have endured more hardships and systematic bigotry than any other group so let’s not downplay blackface in 2012 like it was the ‘20s. We need to hold our elected officials to a much higher standard. There are black boys and girls attending our schools and they now live with the information that one of our educational leaders partook in a blatant racist at 8 years ago. We deserve better and we demand better.
