Midlothian Council - Invest in Dalkeith!

Midlothian Council - Invest in Dalkeith!
The Issue
We the undersigned request that Midlothian Council invest in Dalkeith Town Centre by undertaking the following:-
1. The removal of the large bins and smaller wheelie bins from the High Street. (Nos 92-134 High Street in particular)
2. Ensure that the High Street and town centre is kept clear of rubbish, pallets and crates etc.
3. Tackle the gull problem on the High Street using Avian Pest Control measures
4. Clean the drains in Eskdaill Court around the shopping area
5. Invest in the town centre by
- finding alternative environmentally weed control measures and tackling the weeds
- refreshing Jarnac Court/Eskdaill Court areas, removing weeds from canopies and painting them
- clearing the area that was the site of the Lugton Motel
Dalkeith is a historic town and home to Midlothian Council's Headquarters. Over the past 20 years, Dalkeith has been promised town centre improvements with a sizeable amount of money spent on feasibility studies. The outcome has been NO CHANGE. While Penicuik has had a new complex with sports centre and library and Loanhead a brand new library - Dalkeith has had no significant investment for many years, it has suffered from years of neglect and we want change now.
