MPS started the 2021-2022 school year with a parent’s choice mask policy and after the first week that choice has been taken away. The children in grades K-6th grade now have to wear masks 8hrs a day, nearly nothing exceptions, this is in addition to all the other Covid19 protocols already hindering their social-emotional health.

This mask mandate is harming our children’s developmentally, even though children have been shown to be the least at risk for Coronavirus. The health department has not & still isn’t pushing for the mask requirement. Instead the Superintendent, Mike Sharrow, enacted this mask mandate unilaterally with authority given to him from the school board through a policy created last October. So no public vote of the school board was taken, one man is forcing this on our children! 

We are now being told from the Superintendent that the mask mandate will likely remain in place until Covid19 vaccines are available to children under 12 yrs old, which is completely unacceptable! These children have been through enough. Please help prove that the majority of parents do not agree with the mask mandate! #letmesmile #savethechildren
