Middlebury upperclassmen are facing an unfair housing situation this semester. Due to over-enrollment and an inconsiderate draw process, the opportunity for appropriate housing has become extremely slim. While upperclassmen would normally receive the benefits of seniority, many have been refused the opportunity for on-campus living, let alone a group suite or even a single room. Instead, an overwhelming amount of students are being forced to live off-campus, where they will be significantly detached from their classes, professors, and peers. While off-campus housing was publicized as a "unique opportunity" by the college, the reality is that very few students actually want to live off-campus. This situation denies hundreds of Middlebury students the chance for any semblance of a normal semester, even though the upperclassmen have already dealt heavily with the effects of the pandemic on typical college life.
