Mid Ulster Housing Crisis

Mid Ulster Housing Crisis
The Issue
Just imagine being constantly worried about losing the roof over your head because you can't keep up with the skyrocketing rental prices. Many people today are fed up with rental prices being too high, unable to afford the basics while landlords increase rents with little regulation in place. We’re reaching a tipping point where more families are at risk of homelessness, simply because they can no longer keep up with the excessive demands of the private housing market.
Private rental prices have reached unprecedented levels, rising much faster than wages and leaving tenants in a difficult situation. In many cities, rental increases have outpaced inflation significantly, leaving tenants with little choice but to pay extortionate amounts or face eviction. The impact is distressing: families being torn apart, people being forced to choose between food and rent, and an alarming rise in homelessness.
Current regulations are too weak to protect tenants from these unfair practices. We need to advocate for a fair rental cap to ensure prices don’t rise beyond what is reasonable. It’s crucial that we push for strong, enforceable legislation that limits rental increases and protects tenants from unjust evictions.
Additionally, there must be protection against eviction without just cause. Tenants deserve the right to a stable home, free from the fear of being unfairly displaced at short notice. We’re calling for improved tenant rights that include more notice time and better access to dispute resolution services.
By signing this petition, you are helping to push for a fair and just housing market where everyone can afford safe and decent housing. Join us in demanding action from policymakers to address this urgent crisis, ensuring that the dream of having a home remains accessible to all. Sign the petition to urge government officials to enact rental control measures and tenant protection laws. Together, we can make a change and safeguard the future of housing for our communities.
Mid Ulster Housing Crisis is looking for more housing executive houses/ social housing for our own people.
It’s a disgrace that in 2025 there is no executive/ social housing.
