Desertmartin lies on the foot of Slieve Gallion, on the eastern edge of the Sperrin Mountains for those that live here or have visited the area know how beautiful and tranquil this part of County Derry is.

The land shown in the picture in Desertmartin has been acquired and plans have been submitted to create a Quarry in an area which borders Iniscairn Road and Crocknamohill Road, which is likely to cause high levels of environmental damage. noise and have severe impact on the health of those living locally.

The infrastructure of the local surrounding area isn't viable for heavy goods lorries etc and recently a bridge on Iniscairn Road collapsed.
