We've just received news form the Department of Infrastructure (DFI) on the proposdal for a footpath extension on Trewmont Rd.

"Whilst I do agree that this proposal has merit, unfortunately this scheme did not rank as highly as other Active Travel proposals within the Mid Ulster Council area"
The Divisional Roads Manager (Western Division, Omagh)

We have not received details of the other schemes and locations that ranked above the Moy – once we have more details we will share them.

The Divisional road Manager also states the scheme would require "acquisition of third party residential and agricultural lands, alteration to the existing stone boundary walls along the route in its entirety and service alterations, to facilitate approximately 350m of new footway"

We feel there are cheaper alternatives that would not require the alteration of the stone wall and services – or the disruption of traffic - but would still need the co-operation of the landowner. We will continue to pursue this through representatives of Mid Ulster Council and DFI

Help keep this proposal on the agenda –  contact your councillor today by text or email and ask them to continue to support this campaign – it only takes a minute.

Feel free to use this in your text/email (below) :

"Dear xxx
I am disappointed to hear the Council's proposal to create a footpath extension at Trewmont Rd, Moy - giving residents access to safer roads – has been not been supported by the Department of Infrastructure.
Can I ask you to contact DFI (Western Division) and ask them to reconsider this decision, consider alternatives and work pro-actively with the residents of the Moy and surrounding areas to find a solution.

yours

xxxx"

Thanks in advance.
