I was deeply upset when Yacht Club Games announced the cancellation of Shovel Knight Xbox One retail release and my preorder was cancelled. Their explanation for the cancellation was due to "publisher policies".

The "publisher policies" are referring to Microsoft's controversial "Parity Clause" which forces indie developers to release their games at the same time as the other  consoles and if they released it first on another console, they cannot release it on the Xbox One.

What both parties don't realize is that there are plenty of Xbox One fans who really want a physical copy over the digital version. And this news will turn away a lot of Xbox One fans.

Either Yacht Club Games needs to reverse its decision to cancel the Xbone One release or Microsoft needs to scrap the parity clause so that Yacht Club Games can release the game on the Xbox One so that Shovel Knight cans all around can enjoy it. Either way, I am calling on both parties to work together to get this game released on store shelves.
