Microsoft alongside 343 Industries announced they will be shutting down the Xbox 360 Online servers for all Halo Games next December. The games affected include Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach, Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 4, and the Xbox 360 version of Halo Spartan Assault. This is very upsetting to fans like me and others worldwide because the consoles they originally released on were always the definitive way to play them and the next-gen Xbox One versions don't capture that same feel even after many updates.

Microsoft is in Phase two on the path to the last phase which is the fourth where they eventually close off the Xbox 360 servers entirely for the Halo Series.

Around early December, before the end of Phase two and that is that Microsoft delisted the digital retail versions of all the Halo games backwards compatible for Xbox One including the Xbox 360 version of Spartan Assault from the Microsoft Store/Xbox Marketplace which I feel should always be listed for sale just for convenience and not having to own the physical releases.

The real objective here is to keep the Legacy servers running for the Halo games on Xbox 360 and to bring back the digital retail versions on the Microsoft Store.
