Save our micro gyms in Orange County, open them immediately!

Save our micro gyms in Orange County, open them immediately!

The Issue

Help us get boutique studios and micro gyms reopened.

Governor Newsom's plan to reopen California included opening "Gyms" in phase 3 of the plan.  This is creating a very uncertain future for the fitness industry but specifically more so for small studios and privately owned "Micro Gyms."

Nutrition and a consistent daily exercise regime are paramount to a person's health and immunity.

While "Big Box Traditional Gyms" may have a hard time regulating the traffic flow of their facilities, sharing and use of their common areas and equipment, it must be recognized that not all gyms are alike.

Orange County is home to over 700 boutique gyms and specialized fitness studios. These "Micro Gyms" are being hit hard by this pandemic, when they should be one of the tools used to help the fight.

It is estimated that over 30% of small fitness studios will not recover from this closure.

This is a tragedy. Fitness studios provide a major service in our communities.  They serve as a safe place people struggling with depression, anxiety, alcoholism, suicide, domestic violence, child abuse, molestation, obesity and more.

Fitness is essential. Fitness studios are an essential business.

If done correctly and with proper safeguards, we cannot only protect the health of studio members, but we can also improve the overall health of our community.

These small businesses have the ability to follow the OC Health Care Safety Guidelines as well as any large retailer, liquor store, or other businesses opened in Phase 2.

Counties in Northern California have began to pardon Fitness Studios/MicroGyms. IT IS BEING DONE. COUNTIES ARE TAKING ACTION.

Have Micro Gyms take certain precautions, submit a plan to the county, and let them reopen their businesses!
