Make judge obey the First Amendment

The Issue

Keith Wood was arrested by order of Judge Peter Jaklevic of the 77th District Court (Mecosta County) for jury tampering (there was no jury in session).

The arrest came about after Mr. Wood handed out fliers informing people about jury nullification while standing on the sidewalk in front of the county courthouse.

Mr. Wood was ultimately charged with jury tampering, a one-year misdemeanor and obstruction of justice, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison.

Mr. Wood was released on a $150,000 bond - an egregious amount.

Please sign this petition to urge the Michigan Supreme Court to get the charges dropped and censure Judge Jaklevic for violating Mr. Wood's First Amendment rights.
