Having the right to grow and raise our own food is freedom in its most basic sense. By removing the Right to Farm Act protection of small and backyard farming, our basic freedoms have been violated. We have the right to decide what to put in our bodies, what food to eat, and what type of lifestyle we want to live. The recent ruling by the MCARD violates our freedom of choice and pursuit of happiness, as protected by the Constitution of the Unites States of America. This new ruling puts an unreasonable economic and personal burden upon small-scale farmers, and those selling their livestock products. Environmentally, we need more individuals to raise honeybees to counter the prevalent disaster known as "colony collapse disorder", which is affecting most of our agriculture and likely caused by industrialized farming. We need more honeybees. Without more honeybees, our farming and agriculture will be greatly affected. The recent ruling coerces American citizens to purchase their food from the industrialized farming business, a proven health offender with their GMO products (banned in numerous countries), processed foods, antibiotics, and hormones. By signing this petition, we are demanding that the MCARD repeal the recent ruling that removes protection for backyard and small-scale farmers. Thank you.
