M-22 in Leelanau County, named one of the country’s top 10 scenic highways, has fallen into disrepair over the past few years. The most distressed area, between Suttons Bay and Traverse City, is also the most traveled. The concrete surface is crumbling. The patchwork fixes are now causing more disintegration of the road surface. We need this road completely resurfaced. This highway does not get the needed resources allocated because it is not part of the mainstream commerce within the state of Michigan. However, it is advertised as an iconic destination to visitors to our state and is now becoming an embarrassment to the image of progress and vitality that is needed to keep our state forever "Pure Michigan". Sign this petition to encourage our legislature to allocate the necessary funds through MDOT to properly fix and repair our treasured highway.
