Humane treatment of dogs in puppy mills must be enforced.
The Issue
Dear Governor Snyder and esteemed members of the House and Senate, It has come to my attention that the puppy mill operating at 1688 Putnam Dr in Midland MI is not adequate and is cruel and abusive to the dogs. It has been reported that the dogs are filthy, are exposed to the elements in overcrowded rabbit hutches, and do not get the medical attention that they need. long term breeding dogs live a life of boredom, lack exercise, get no real people socialization, and often deliver two litters of pups a year. Although I disagree with the entire concept of puppy mills, if this is allowed by law, then at least hold these breeders to the highest standards of care. Animals should have shelter that will protect them from extreme weather as well as a ready supply of fresh water, food and areas to exercise. All animals deserve shelter, food, water; show the world that Michigan cares for those who can not fend for themselves.
