The Michigan Department of Natural Resource Fisheries Division has stated all 4 Michigan bass season options that went through the public process represent minimal risk including the most supported option - Option 4 from the Michigan B.A.S.S. Nation. Option 4 provides the most new bass fishing opportunity fairly to the most different types of anglers. Option 4 would make year-round catch-and-immediate-release bass fishing legal while changing our short open season to the last Saturday in April until December 31 for the Lower Peninsula, and May 15 until December 31 for the Upper Peninsula. Bass anglers would finally have as much fishing opportunity as pike, walleye and muskie anglers.
