Legalizing marijuana for recreational use (under the same concept as the states of colorado and Washington) would greatly benefit the state of Michigan. Tax revenue estimates of around 2 million dollars per month (much more on the first few days of legalization) would be generated in Michigan and that is not to mention how much money the state and cities will save on not arresting/prosecuting/jailing marijuana users. That money could be instead used on keeping our homes safe. Legalization would also take Marijuana to a safe legal market where users arent in the same black market as more dangerous drugs. It is downright hypocritical to treat marijuana criminal and not the countrys deadliest substances (Tobacco and Alcohol). I urge people to understand that just because the law tells you not to do something doesnt make it morally right. Todays anti-marijuana laws were born in the age of segragation and shortly after the fight americans took to allow voting rights for women and after alcohol prohibition.
