Make the Michigan Department of Education count online learning days due to Coronavirus

The Issue

Hi there! On March 13, Governor Gretchen Witmer was announced because of COVID-19, all schools in Michigan would be closed until April 6, and many schools are transitioning to online learning. However, the Michigan Department of Education announced on March 20 that online learning days would not count as school days. This would make schools have to go AT LEAST 2 weeks into summer. This cannot happen because many students have summer sports. They want to have long summers, and it is not their fault COVID-19 is closing schools. So, my petition is for this: Make the Michigan Department of Education count days where many students do online learning as school days. Students are still learning very much with teachers assigning work for the students. Some applications teachers use for assigning students work are Google Classroom, Zoom Broadcasting, and many other ways of giving work out. The point is, students are still being assigned work like a regular school day, so these days should count as regular school days. Finally, teachers deserve their 3 month break. Once again, it is not their fault COVID-19 came and closed school down. Many teachers long for their break with little salary and having to deal with children all day. Thank you for reading my case, and I would appreciate it if you signed. Thank you.
