There is currently no redress or due process for citizens in Michigan when a medical examiner has falsified records, perjured herself in court documents, violated the code of ethics, or committed other crimes against citizens of their community. There should be oversight and accountability, not immunity, for coroners who abuse the public trust.

Taxpayer money should not be used by counties to attack their own citizens by hiring lawyers to defend coroners who violate their ethical and legal responsibilities to the community. This is happening now in Kalamazoo County at the Homer Stryker School of Medicine.
