Dear Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham,

During this coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic there is an opportunity, a call, to do things differently. As our national and local economy collapses, we are finally understanding the importance of growing much of our own food and creating vegetable gardens. To do this we need the wisdom, support and products that garden nurseries have. It is counterproductive to close nurseries now and to label them as non-essential businesses. It is counterproductive to the local economy to only allow corporate chain stores to be selling plants right now. We need to be doing all that we can to support our local economy while allowing ready access to our local plant nurseries. This is not a matter of hobby gardening, but of food security for New Mexico.
