On 26th July 2021, gardai, cspca and the dog warden were called to the property of Cavan County Councillor Craig Lovett.  On arriving there they found a cattle trailer with a number of dogs kept inside.  The dogs had no food or water and were left to lie in their own excrement.  Not only that, but it was 28 degrees celsius on the day in question and the cattle trailer in which these dogs were imprisoned was akin to an oven.  The dogs are allowed to "breed at will" as this is Mr. Craig Lovett's lucrative side business.  He is a registered dog breeder.
This is not Craig Lovett's first run in with the dog warden and the CSPCA either.  He has had dog's removed from him twice previously and has also previously given a promise never to own dogs again.  He has since come out to deny having ownership of the dogs and put the blame firmly on his father instead.  Irrespective of who owns the poor animals, the property on which they were kept is Craig Lovett's.
It is now high time to prosecute this heartless, cruel individual and to remove him from his position within Cavan County council where he currently holds the position of Leas-Cathaoirleach.  He must be removed as a registered breeder also as he cannot be permitted to continue.  This is his third instance of cruelty and he needs to be jailed.
