Regulate Dysfunctional Employment Service Industry - Set Up Independent Complaints Process

Every day the Australian Unemployed Workers Union new receives cases of job agencies mistreating unemployed workers.
Job agencies are increasingly bullying unemployed workers into a lucrative regime of punitive activities that are proven not to help them into work. By threatening to cut unemployed workers' income support, privately owned job agencies have been given the power of live and death over some of the most vulnerable people in Australia.
The Department of Employment are the sole body responsible for reigning in out-of-control job agencies and handle complaints. However, it is becoming clear that the Department of Employment has a conflict of interest and does not want to admit that its $6.8 billion jobactive system is not working.
As a result, the Department of Employment Customer Service Line regularly hang up on people making complaints, ignore them or refuse to process them. This has created a entrenched culture of fear and intimidation throughout the industry.
The Australian Unemployed Workers' Union are calling for a independent body to review the industry and handle complaints. Please sign and share this petition.
