The maximum jail time for an animal cruelty crime is currently 5 years. I want to change this as many people, even after this period are even allowed to keep animals again. Thousands of animals are left abandoned injured or even left to die every year by these cruel acts. Not to mention that people who abuse animals, can also go onto have violence towards other humans. I want to stop these acts, such as cruelty, neglect and dog fighting. This is a huge problem and I want to introduce stricter punishments for those who commit such horrific crimes.
