Changes to Animal laws, limiting the time that dogs can be tied outside for.
Why this petition matters
I drive past this house several times a day and see this poor dog tethered/chained up. It is tied up morning, noon and night! What a sad, lonely and long life this must be! This dog is not receiving the proper exercise or social skills needed and is inhumane and harmful to the physical and mental well-being of this dog. Leaving a dog tied up and unattended poses great risk to both the dog and the public safety: dogs can become stressed, suffer in extreme temperatures and act out in aggressive ways. This dog is unable to protect itself from nature (coyotes, wolves, ect.) and is not receiving the love and companionship needed! What ever happened to “Man’s Best Friend?” Dogs are loveable and loyal animals. This is sad that we allow this to happen. Currently there is no law in the Algoma district that limits the amount of time a dog can be tethered for. Having a limit (example 4 hours per day) will help resolve some of the above noted issues. We need to give our pets the protection and love they deserve!
