Michael Ma Must Resign

Michael Ma Must Resign
The Issue
Michael Ma has built his political career on conservatism. Prior to his successful election in 2025, he had run as a Conservative in 2019 in Don Valley East. He lost, but he made his point, willing to go to battle for the Canadian conservative mission.
While in office, he articulated his position as a conservative. He openly denounced the Carney government's fiscal policy, blaming the surging inflation for a 22% increase in senior usage of the food bank - depriving them of a comfortable retirement, free from poverty. He voted against the Carney budget, the one loaded with spurious "investment" spending that alarmed the parliamentary budget officer.
In his final speech as a Conservative MP, Ma called the Liberal government "Team Feudalism," lambasting them for selling out to private special interests. He blasts their record on economic productivity. He called out their policy of mass immigration, how it has triggered inflation, plunging Canadians closer to poverty. He called the government out for picking winners and losers in the Canadian economy. He said he couldn't decide if it were "tragedy" or "comedy."
All of this was over when he decided to cross the floor and join the Feudal Team he had spent his political life opposing.
Ma had claimed to have made this decision after consulting with constituents in his riding. However, according to residents of Markham-Unionville, no such consultation have taken place. Instead, there is widespread anger throughout the riding.
This anger has spread nationwide, as Ma's decision has put the Carney government one seat short of a majority government, granting him the unlimited power of legislation that Canadians have not granted last election. They did not vote for an MP to promise one thing, then sell out to the opposite interest.
Public office revolves around integrity and trust. Ma had sold out his trust. He betrayed Markham-Unionville. He betrayed Canada. If he has an ounce of integrity left, he must resign from office and resign before the next parliamentary sitting.
