Help save shipwrecked cat on Cococay Island

The Issue

Update 2: After a week of trying to contact Royal Caribbean and getting the run around last night the CEO contacted the island manager who contacted us this morning. They said they leave a bowls of water for the "cats" and feed them. The guest who disembark the boat for the day also feed them. We were not worried so much about the food because there are live chickens running around and also the typical iguana and lizard. Im hoping that because this started to became viral they will keep a better eye on this situation .

UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your support! Michael Bayley, the CEO for Royal Caribbean has been in touch and is looking into the manner further. We have been assured that he will be checked out by a vet for the ear, and that this situation will be dealt with.

I was recently on a Royal Caribbean cruise for work aboard The Enchantment of the Seas cruise ship. During the cruise, you visit a very small private island in the Bahamas called CocoCay. While stopped there, I came across a  cat that was not at all ferrel. I sat down with him, as he was friendly, and visibly in need of aid. It was quickly apparent that his ear was filled with black gunk, and that his coat was extremely dirty. When I opened the full bottle of water I was carrying to take a drink, my new friend (who we named Wilson from the movie "Castaway") started to cry repeatedly, pawing at my hand for a drink. Within 20 minutes, Wilson had drank the entire liter bottle of water before falling over onto the sand. From what I could see, there was no other fresh water source available to him other than maybe the barracks where the bartenders and life guards live.

Yet, when I brought the cat to the attention of the employees, I was laughed at and waved off. As it is a privately owned island, it is evident that someone brought this domesticated animal there (most likely a Royal Caribbean employee), then abandoned it with no access to water and most likely food, leaving it ill-equipped to fend for itself.

It is now in a state of neglect, and demands for answers from the cruise line have proven futile. Royal Caribbean claims the cat is "fine," and that it has been seen by a vet as recently as three weeks ago, but any vet with eyes would know the creature is in need of medicine for the fungus or mites living in its ear. It is also in need of fresh water and food, and has been cruelly trapped in a situation where it can find neither.

We plead with you to demand more from the cruise line, and petition its services until they agree to set things right by transporting the creature off the island and into a proper facility with care. Wilson deserves a chance to live, and this type of neglect is not acceptable from a company that's turning profit from our entertainment. Saving the life of this cat won't change the world  but the world will certainly change  for the cat. Please join us in the fight !
