DO WE LET 700... or 9,000  STUDENTS EXPERIENCE THIS LECTURE???

Bill Nye is a well respected and admired figure to students at Miami University. Thousands of students have expressed an interest in attending his lecture on Science Rules: Why Science is Cooler Than Ever” as part of Miami University’s 2016-2017 Lecture Series at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. Currently the venue for this is event is at Hall Auditorium which has a capacity of 700 seats. MANY students have expressed interest in having the event moved to the Millett Stadium venue which can accommodate 9,200 students. It has been stated by HOME office that the reason Millet was not the venue chosen, was because of a Basketball Team practice. An educational institution should place more emphasis on academic lectures such as this rather than athletics.

Bill Nye:

He earned a degree in mechanical engineering at Cornell University, where he studied under Carl Sagan. Before Nye combined his loves of science and comedy to create the Science Guy, he worked as an engineer at Boeing and other places.

Nye is the CEO of the world’s largest space-interest group, the Planetary Society.

He has won numerous Emmy awards for his PBS series, “Disney Presents Bill Nye the Science Guy.”

In 2014, he wrote his first book, Undeniable—Evolution and the Science of Creation. It has been featured on The New York Times Best Sellers List. Nye describes the text as an introduction on the discoveries and principles of evolution.
