Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commission: Stop the Elimination of Public Clay and Grass Tennis Courts at Crandon Park Tennis Center

Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commission: Stop the Elimination of Public Clay and Grass Tennis Courts at Crandon Park Tennis Center
The Issue
The public uses the clay and grass courts at the Crandon Park Tennis Center year round. Seniors and adults prefer using clay courts due to joint stress and injuries from playing on hard surface courts. Adult USTA leagues play and practice on clay courts because most of the Florida Sectional Tournaments are played on clay courts. Crandon Park offers the only public clay and grass tennis courts available in Miami-Dade County. The professional tournament promoters (IMG) want 3 new permanent grandstands/stadiums and to eliminate the clay and grass courts so they have more hard courts for the 12 day tournament. There are 18 hard surface courts, 6 clay and 2 grass courts. We would like to preserve the clay and grass tennis courts at Crandon Park.
