Lourdes Valdes started this petition to Miami Dade Animal Services Director Alex Munoz

Nelson Patricio has had his service dog, Cheryl, for approx. 12 years and has traveled around the U.S. with her since she was a pup. She is a full breed American Eskimo. Nelson is a 66 old disabled and Veteran man from Massachusetts with PTSD Tand has had his furbaby registered as a service dog since he rescued her in Massachusetts 12 years ago! They've been happily living here in Miami Beach, Florida for the last several years. She was microchipped with everything legit and up-to-date. She was not only a service dog to him, but his daughter. I know she is suffering and miserable without him right now just as Nelson. On July 11th, Nelson fell ill and was hospitalized at Palmetto General Hospital for approx. 10 days due to complications from cancer, and his dog was taken to Miami-Dade Animal services in Doral because the paramedics would not allow his service dog in the ambulance. Nelson was unconscious. Nelson was released from the hospital on July 21st and MDAS adopted her out the very SAME day he came out (10 days later), even though MDAS said they were going to hold her for the 10 days. Cheryl was still there but informed him she was already adopted that day.  While he was in the hospital, he did contacted MDAS, but they needed her chip number to even give him any information about Cheryl. He was hospitalized and all of her documentation and paperwork was at his home. He had no way of obtaining this while hospitalized! Nelson lost his lifetime companion, service dog and best friend because he got sick. That's what service dogs are for, to help you when you're sick. But the MDAS adopted her out anyway. Nelson has Post Traumatic Syndrome and needs Cheryl.
There's gotta be something we can do for Nelson and Cheryl to be together again. He legitimately has paperwork and microchip registration up to date. The man was HOSPITALIZED!!!
It was too late, they said. Nelson still had his Hospital band on his wrist. They did the usual courtesy phone call to the new adopter, but sadly, they did not return the call. Nelson asked for a supervisor and said there were none. Nelson is severely depressed without Cheryl. They've been together for over 12 years. They've traveled across the states for 10 years. That's his baby. I asked Miami Dade Animal Services to do the right thing. The dog wasn't a stray, she wasn't an owner surrender and much less how they titled her as CONFISCATED. THAT IS A LIE AND FRAUD. THE ADOPTION WAS A COMPLETE FRAUD FROM A GOVERNMENT COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER. DOGS ARE PROPERTY AND CHERYL IS MICROCHIPPED!

RETURN CHERYL BACK TO NELSON PATRICIO.

I AM ALSO ADDING THE LINK FOR THE GOFUNDME FOR AN ATTORNEY FOR NELSON TO GET HIS DOG BACK.
