As the people of the community that are either trying to find a lost animal or as a rescuer that is trying to find a home for one the many homeless dogs, or even when we need someone to be held accountable, we have the right as taxpayers to see a picture or video of the animal. The fact that when a animal can be said to be in a shelter as a stray for a FIVE day hold with NO IMAGE available is not acceptable. Every animal that enters that shelter must be given a Id, name, and picture. There muct be some accountabilty for all of them. We are asking for a system to be put in place so that a audit can be done from a 3rd party outside of MDAS .
Animals can no longer go missing this is unacceptable. We want cameras in every part of the shelter, no hidden rooms or areas where the general public are not allowed to see. Employees need training to deal with animals before being able to work wth them. We are asking for a 2 day hold on owner surrenders, as of right now owner surrenders can be euthanized immediately this will at least give rescues a chance to network or the public to view the dog and have a second chance.
