On Tuesday the 29th of December, Z-List 'celebrities' Zara Holland and Elliott Love broke Barbados quarantine after discovering that one (or both) of them were infected with Covid-19.

They left their hotel, cut off their quarantine wristbands and fled to the airport to try and return to the UK - in the full knowledge that their actions risked spreading the deadly virus to both the Barbadian people, and the people of the UK.

They broke the law, but also broke the trust of the wonderfully open, kind and welcoming people of Barbados.

They acted with a level of selfishness and entitlement that beggars belief. They undermined the huge amount of work that had been done by the government and people of Barbados to suppress community transmission and the didn't just risk the livelihoods of Bajans, the risked their lives.

If one single person dies as a result of their selfish and cowardly actions, then they should be charged with murder. Either way, we strongly believe they should receive a custodial sentence, either in Barbados or the UK, for wantonly endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

On a personal note, as a fellow visitor to Barbados from the UK, I'm utterly heartbroken that a pair of our countrymen would do such a thing. I also want to reassure the people of Barbados that the majority of us love your country and respect your laws. You have been so welcoming and giving, so I'm deeply sorry that some individuals have disrespected the country in this way.
