Michigan Social Workers for Palestine demand that Senator Debbie Stabenow calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the end to U.S. military aid to Israel!

Michigan Social Workers for Palestine is a growing collective of Social Workers and Social Work students using our voices and our power to highlight the ongoing humanitarian crises in Gaza. As social workers we have a professional code of ethics which includes, but are not limited to: a commitment to end oppression, advocacy with marginalized identities and promotion of individual and community self-determination. We are driven to speak out and demand that Stabenow calls for a ceasefire now because our profession asks us to be political and to advocate for socially-just policies that center human rights.

As a trained social worker, and as a social worker in public office Senator Stabenow has committed to challenging the status quo through systemic and policy changes. We have seen how she managed to do this in the past. She must be compelled do the same now - to ensure that the violence that is being enacted on Gaza, which is causing immense physical, psychological and cultural harm, stops immediately.

We demand that Stabenow uses her power and her voice, rooted in social work values and ethics, to take and stand for human dignity and to call for a permanent Ceasefire in Gaza!
