Manhattan / Hunter Science High School is looking into making cameras mandatory during zoom classes. Online students can feel threatened and uncomfortable when having to turn their cameras on. Feeling as if everyone is watching them, it distracts students from focusing on their work. Instead, they focus on how they look to others. Another issue with these cameras is, students regardless of age may have responsibilities in their homes. Maybe taking care of a parent, sibling, etc. It’s important to recognize not all students have a room with no distractions. This can be embarrassing for students. Worrying about what people may think about where they live, how they live, and what they do in their own homes. Sign this petition today to stop cameras from being mandatory.
