During the festive lockdown last year we all sacrificed time with loved ones as we had been told by those in power that we had a social responsibility to stay away from one another to temporarily decrease the threat posed by coronavirus. While we isolated and had to see loved ones faces through living room windows or on Zoom calls they were gathering illegally at planned gatherings wearing Christmas jumpers and exchanging secret Santa gifts. They disobeyed the same rules that they had set out showing utter contempt for everyone following the restrictions. It cannot be one rule for those setting the rules and another rule for those expected to abide by them.
