Let Them PLAY Ball!!!

Let Them PLAY Ball!!!
The Issue
I am starting this petition to get fair and equal treatment for public school sports in Nashville, TN, under Metro Davidson County's jurisdiction.
We too want to make sure that our children are safe, but we also want to ensure they are afforded the same opportunities of others in and surrounding our county.
While we understand COVID is a serious issue during this time, we are also confident that solutions are available that will allow our children to play, just like other sports organizations that are now playing, some right here in Davidson County.
If they aren't allowed to play, we would like to understand how private schools that are housed in Davidson County are currently being able to play? What are private sectors doing, that could be shared with us, to ensure that these kids who have worked so hard are able to have their football seasons as well?
We as parents, with the commitment of our signatures are standing in solidarity to bring football and other sports back to Metro Nashville Public Schools.
We are stating that we will assist and adhere to all rules to ensure safety, sanitation and social-distancing guidelines are upheld.
We are also committing to and stating that if the sport is allowed to play and return, we are willing to sign waivers, removing Metro Public Schools from any liability should our children contract this virus. Much like waivers we sign yearly regarding concussions and injury.
We feel that we have been treated unfairly and our voices haven't been heard, for that reason, we are now respectfully demanding that our students, too are allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities, like every other county in this area.
Please re-think the decision of suspending sports until further notice. This would be detrimental to the world of high school sports, especially the football program and the students and coaches who have continuously given their all. Consider the senior's who need this season as it could make or break their ability to attend and have scholarship offers that will pay for their colleges, alleviating their families of the cost of college and the loans that come along with it.
We are willing to work together in a partnership, Coaches, players and parents to come up with other, more reasonable and feasible guidelines that allow a safe environment for these kids to play their sports. However, I reiterate, if private institutions within Davidson County are allowed to play the public school sports should resume as well.
I know many have stated that until school resumes, sports shouldn't either, however, a game is usually 2, 3 hours max. Games are held outdoors and in an open space.
School is usually 7 hours in cramped classrooms and hallways, that comparison is apples to oranges.
We realize, there are many factors that go into making decisions and this one wasn't made lightly. However, since this decision directly affects our children, this is definitely a decision that should have included parental input, our ideas and most importantly our voices should have been heard, prior to a decision of this magnitude being made.
In closing, I would like to reiterate, if other counties and those private schools located within Davidson County are allowed to play football, then our public schools should be afforded that same opportunity.
