Dear Members of the Ontario Provincial Parliament,

I support the Metro grocery store workers who are on strike for better wages, adequate work hours, and job security. These members of UNIFOR Local 414 are fighting for good jobs for all of us.

Last year, Metro made nearly $1 billion in profit and Metro CEO Eric La Flèche received a staggering 15% increase in his bonus, pocketing $5.4 million in total compensation. In the first six months of 2023, profits are already ten percent higher than in the same period last year. Clearly, Metro can afford to pay their workers fairly but is so far refusing to do so.

Throughout the pandemic, grocery store workers were on the frontlines making sure we could all put food on the table. Now it's our turn to support these frontline workers in their fight for dignity, respect, and better wages.
