My name is David Bentley and I have discovered multiple  toxic  gas leaks  behind my home in Rutledge area of Charleston West Virginia above the American Waters intake. People in the area around my home seem to be experiencing the same health issues linked to scientific studies based on the effects of the chemical disturbances. We are unsure of what exactly the chemical is. H2S and methane gas have been confirmed by WVDEP, but what has not been confirmed is the amount of release and the other carcinogenic impurities. I have worked with specialists and environmental justice teams to  bring forth unknown science, since WVDEP has not seen the severity of the issue because my case has been closed twice. I will not stop fighting for the people!

Symptoms I am seeing in myself and others because of the exposure include nausea, headaches, possible cancer, memory loss, cough, shortness of breath, sleeping problems, tremors, convulsions, skin and eye irritation and infections. The body can break down gas if exposed in low concentrations, but overtime the body will be unable to break down the chemical compounds and it will infect your body. 

Many of these scientific findings were brought to the attention of government agencies since the time of the discovery back in December 2021 and to this day. I have requested for federal agencies to be contacted and take the investigation out of the hands of WVDEP because they either don't see the severity of the issue, or are trying to cover up to protect the CEO's of large gas companies ( Diversified energy).The reason this is so important and requires immediate attention is because many people have developed severe illnesses since and before the finding of the release in December and there are no clear answers on how long it has been released into the air we breathe, the environment, and the water we drink and play in. This is scary because the illnesses have been linked to the exposure of the gas and will only continue unless we take action.

As citizens of the state, it is unlawful for people to be exposed and poisoned without being aware. Not to mention, if it is fugitive emissions of methane gas, it could be a great contribution to the climate crisis that everyone should be focused on. What I ask of the people is to help me spread awareness and get enough support for the state of West Virginia to acknowledge and hand over to leading scientists and federal investigators since the state has failed to identify the toxins and let the people of the state know what they have been ingesting throughout the years.
