Jeff Roberts started this petition to Metallica and

Testament is a thrash metal band from San Francisco that got its start in 1983 under the name Legacy. They have released 11 studio albums in their career (if you count "First Strike Still Deadly", it would be 12) and the first four were released by Megaforce Records, which used to be the home of Metallica. When their first album "The Legacy" finally surfaced in 1987, Testament was expected to be "The Next Metallica" but the big break that they were supposed to catch back then was overshadowed by "The Big Four" of thrash (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax).

Despite the fact that both bands are based in The Bay Area and have been friends and supportive of each other's works over the years, Metallica is the only thrash band out of the "Big Four" that Testament has never shared the stage with for obvious reasons. The obvious reasons are reportedly because the members of Metallica were concerned that they would be upstaged by Testament, or that Testament has always declined to play with them.

Now Testament has a new album on the way and plans to tour worldwide in support of it, starting with a European leg supported by their Bay Area thrash buddies Exodus and Death Angel.

As for Metallica, even though their vocalist James Hetfield just recently went back to rehab, the band recently announced that they will be headlining five festivals in the U.S. throughout 2020, which will also see them play two sets at each one, including Epicenter in North Carolina, Welcome To Rockville in Florida and Sonic Temple Art And Music Festival in Columbus, Ohio - all in May, followed by Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky in September and Aftershock in Sacramento, California in October.

This petition is to convince James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich to let Testament open for Metallica on at least one of the festival dates. The diehard Metallica fans will get a blast and those who are new to old school metal will be exposed by a band that was to be "the next big thing" over 30 years ago.

Given the fact that the members of Metallica and Testament are fans of each other's works - even pictures of James, Lars or Kirk hanging out with at least one of the members of Testament exist on the internet - now's the time that Metallica should give Testament a chance to open for them, especially by recapitalizing their legacy into the public conscience. Testament cites Metallica as one of their biggest influences and even Chuck Billy said at one point that he would love his band to do a "Big X"-type show involving Metallica.

So sign this petition to get Testament on board with the Metallica festival dates that they are doing. All of us, especially all the diehard metal fans in the world, can make this happen! In the words of The Beatles, we can work it out!
