The Issue

I am a wrestling content creator and Meta disabled my wrestling Instagram account, @ringsidewithkaren, after I spent a significant amount of  time and effort creating content, cultivating a following and sharing my own ringside footage from WWE live events I attended in person. Some of my reels reached hundreds of thousands of views. Then one day out of the blue and without warning,  I received a notification that my account had been suspended. I submitted the requested documentation to Instagram for review and my account was subsequently disabled a couple of days later. An AI review misclassified my wrestling content as depicting quote-unquote: “dangerous individuals and organizations”.  In reality, I had posted nothing more than typical sports entertainment material taken at WWE shows. Sports entertainment is clearly not the same thing as real-world violence perpetrated by dangerous individuals and it should not be treated like it is.

What makes this even harder to accept is that when my account was first suspended, I was given a different reason completely unrelated to the reason given for it being disabled. That kind of inconsistency makes it feel like creators are being judged by automated systems without any fair, informed review. I'm not the only one this has happened to either. When an AI system gets it wrong, creators can lose their communities, momentum, and work they built over months or years, all without a real person ever taking a serious look.

That's why I'm calling on Meta to require trained human reviews before Instagram permanently disables accounts based on AI moderation flags, especially in categories where context matters. Professional wrestling, sports entertainment, live event footage, and fan coverage should not be swept into labels meant for genuinely dangerous content. If Meta is going to use AI to police accounts, then it also has a responsibility to make sure creators have a fair process before losing everything.

I'm challenging this decision because I know it's wrong, and I know a lot of other people have stories like mine. If you've ever been hit by an unfair AI decision, if you've ever watched a platform erase your work with the push of a button, please sign this petition. Let's demand a review process that treats creators like people, not false positives.
