Keep Cosmetology safe in Nebraska. Tell legislators to take Cosmetology out of LB-343.

The Issue

LB-343 is currently written to include Cosmetology and significantly decreases the hours of cosmetology student and instructor training.

What does this mean for Nebraska?

Nebraska's public safety is at risk! Cosmetology students will not be properly trained in chemical services such as hair coloring, straightening, and permanent waving. Cosmetologists are currently trained sufficiently to apply chemical products in a manner that does not cause hair damage and burns. They also must pass a state examination demonstrating knowledge to prevent the spread of infection and parasites, including lice, Herpes Simplex Virus, Hepatitus B and C, HIV, and folliculitis.

This is not in the best interest of Nebraska's Cosmetology students! Our next generation of Cosmetologists will not be adequately prepared to successfully launch their careers. Their education will see a lowered standard of theory and creative competency. A 600 hour deduction in the current curriculum will not help them to pass the state test.  Future graduates will have problems competing with established professionals already in the industry. We are setting them up for failure.

Nebraska Cosmetologists are proud of their license and it has value. Our state's salon professionals rank high in national earnings comparisons. Let's keep what's working!

Are you a concerned Nebraskan regarding these issues with LB-343? You can make a difference. It's easy. Please contact your State Senators by signing this petition, today!
