Merrimack Graduate Program Financial Reimbursement Petition

Merrimack Graduate Program Financial Reimbursement Petition
The Issue
We, the graduate students of Merrimack College with all respect for the university and its members, demand the re-evaluation of tuition cost and fair reimbursement in response to the movement of the late spring and summer semesters to distance learning. Graduate school is not an inexpensive investment, and the current tuition of the Merrimack College graduate programs can reach upwards of $11,000 a semester. Our tuition stretches far beyond instruction and goes towards maintaining facilities and resources that are no longer used by the students and will not be used for nearly 5 months, maybe more. The university has made several changes to adapt to these unprecedented times; however, further action is needed. While no one could foresee the difficult circumstances we currently find ourselves in; it is unjust to pay for less than what was promised when beginning our respective programs. The cost per credit hour of all programs should mirror that of cost per credit hour of online learning. The following graduate students within the Merrimack College community attest to this statement and stand in solidarity to demand change and compensation with respect to tuition.
