Change Mercer University’s In-Person Class to an Online Module
Why this petition matters

Downtown campuses and the Macon campus of Mercer University are at great risk of disease transmission. Macon is a central hub hosting many travelers from Atlanta and in-person contact is much more common than generally thought of. Over spring break, many Mercer bears, faculty, and visitors had traveled abroad to various locations around the world, therefore there is no certainty of transmitting the virus. Mercer is much larger than you may think, something that is occurring just an hour away in Fulton County Atlanta could very easily spread from commuting, visitation, and field trips. Therefore classes should be offered online to keep the student body and faculty safe from becoming sick until we can be assured that our health and safety are clear.
It has been previously stated from the CDC that people with underlying health conditions and weak immune systems can be seriously negatively affected, as opposed to the contrary belief that being "young" is entire immunity.
