Meralco, please correct your inaccurate, extremely high, and unjust electric bills

The Issue

The most recent Meralco bills received by Filipino consumers (starting from around May 9, 2020 onwards) have had extremely high usage readings resulting to extremely high electric bills. Filipinos have reported double, triple, quadruple, and even higher mark-ups in their bills (even if they are being billed for 1 month only). Even with increased usage due to the warmer climate and working from home brought about by the COVID19 pandemic, a 200%-400%+ increase in usage is inaccurate and unjustifiable. 

Filipinos should pay for electric bills that are fair and match the amount of electricity actually used. If basing bills on the average of the previous 3 months, then it should not result to a double, triple, or quadruple mark-up! There have been consumers who reported getting extremely high Meralco bills even if their place of business/residence was not used during the billing period. This is flat out wrong and heartless (especially in a time where people have lost jobs/businesses due to the pandemic).

We are calling on Meralco and the Energy Regulatory Commision to please correct this injustice and adjust our electric bills so that they reflect our exact usage; or if needed, an accurate average of our usage in previous months. Please do not hurt the Filipino people further.
