Mental Health Professionals Demand an immediate Ceasefire in Palestine

The Issue

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has had a profound impact on the mental health of its residents. People in conflict settings have a variety of mental health conditions, from depression and anxiety to post-traumatic stress disorder.  There can also be other manifestations of trauma due to the ongoing and repetetive nature of this assault on Palestine. Additionally, there will be ongoing transgenerational trauma for survivors, orphans and those whose families have been decimated by this ongoing assault.

As psychologists and mental health professionals, it is our duty not only to support our clients as they heal but also to advocate for conditions that promote psychological well-being. We must use our collective voice to demand a ceasefire in Palestine from politicians, associations, and other organizations overseeing mental health.

By demaning a ceasefire now, we are using our collective power to help alleviate the psychological distress experienced by countless individuals affected in Palestine.  With over 17,000 deaths as of December 3 that are still mounting (Reuters.com), it is our duty to speak up and speak out.

Sign this petition if you believe in leveraging our professional influence for peace and improved mental wellbeing.
