Hello Supporters,
The long-term care industry donates millions each year to political campaigns throughout the state. This is our system, and this is allowed, as long as the donations abide to state and federal law.
But the flood of money raises questions. Whose voices are echoing loudest in Springfield? What does all that money mean for the people living in Illinois nursing homes, which are currently ranked 47th out of 50th by U.S. News and World Report in overall quality -- or in SMHRFs like Albany Care? What does it mean for advocates calling for better care?
We explore that question in our latest Substack post. Please give it a look if you're curious:
Which elected official, named on this petition, reported $50,000 in donations from LTC industry groups just last week?
Which politician has accepted more than $2 million over the years from a single LTC industry group?
Which two politicians in our report have taken donations from Albany Care, and from other companies affiliated with some of Albany Care's owners, despite the fact that Albany Care isn't in their districts? (This is allowed. We think it's also worth pointing out.)
Follow along as we follow the money.
And thank you, as always, for supporting this petition.
