Men's Mental Health Education and Awareness is needed
The Issue
I am deeply moved by the rising suicide rates among men and the constant emasculation that many experience daily. This issue is personal to me, as I believe it's high time we address the unique mental health needs of men in our society. We need to dispel harmful myths such as "toxic masculinity" and acknowledge that men, too, can struggle with mental health issues too.
Men have played a significant role in building our society, yet their mental well-being is often overlooked or misunderstood. The World Health Organization reports that suicide rates are highest among men in high-income countries, with 3 times more suicides among men than women. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for action.
This is from the Samaritans mental health website.
"Here are the latest suicide statistics, including suicide and self-harm:
Over 700,000 people take their own life each year – that’s one person every 40 seconds (World Health Organization)
115 people die by suicide in the UK every week – with 75% of those deaths being male (ONS)
1 in 5 people have suicidal thoughts (NHS Digital)
1 in 14 people self-harm (NHS Digital)
1 in 15 people attempt suicide (NHS Digital)
Males aged 45-49 have the highest suicide rate (Samaritans)
10% of young people self-harm (Mental Health Foundation)"

We must also recognize that methods of dealing with mental health issues can differ between genders due to societal expectations and pressures. For instance, physical exercise has been shown to improve mood and reduce anxiety - a potentially beneficial approach for many men who may prefer active relief strategies.
Furthermore, we should promote positive role models like Hamza Ahmed, iman gadzhi, and so much more who embody strength, who embody the physicality and the mental resilience while challenging stereotypes about masculinity.
Lastly, it's crucial to clarify misconceptions about feminism - it isn't about belittling women but advocating for equality. However, this shouldn't come at the expense of neglecting or undermining men's struggles.
In fact men are now leaving the dating market because of the massive shift in more transgressive women who believe that they can date a man but not 1 not 2 but so much more and leaves men less ambitious and more insecure.
But with this petition we change that and clear up the misconceptions:
stoicism- Now many people think that stoicism is just 'bottle up your feeling' or 'never showing emotion'. But this is never the case. Stoicism is the act of knowing and assessing your emotion before you act out on them, while also knowing when to psychically and mentally stop.
Toxic masculinity- Now everyone seemingly thinks that toxic masculinity is referred to as 'incel' (incel meaning: a member of an online community of young men who consider themselves unable to attract women sexually, typically associated with views that are hostile towards women and men who are sexually active.) Now you could say but reason is, it all links backs to feminism, why?
Because in the 21st century some women (not all) are entitled women who think that 'men are trash' , 'we don't need men' , 'we can all be lesbian and everything will be fine'.
Is this the feminists you want?
If you got told those comment as a man, would that EVER insult you?
In a stereotypical way, men built houses, men went down to the sewage system, men went to war and died, men were used as slaves and so it didn't bound them an ounce of sympathy for the feminists to know that we did all that work and effort just to put a roof over your head.

In light of these facts, we urge educational institutions and policy makers to incorporate comprehensive education on male-specific mental health into their curriculums or policies respectively. It’s time we stop ignoring half of our population’s unique struggles – let’s spread awareness about male mental health now! Please sign this petition if you stand with us.
