The Summerland fire of 2nd August 1973 took the lives of 50 men, women and children. Almost 100 were injured.  This tragedy which resonated around the world should be recognised ON THE SITE WHERE IT HAPPENED. No one died in the Kaye Gardens!

The site looks appalling in its current state, derelict for 18 YEARS, on the market for 15 YEARS with no developer taking it on, now being used as a dumping ground. The fact has to be recognised the only viable solution now is a memorial and landscaped gardens to commemorate the victims, the survivors and in recognition of all those who came to their aid.  It will cost money, the cliffs will need to be stabilised, but it's a drop in the ocean compared to the money currently wasted. The Isle of Man Government should stop paying lip service to 'the legacy of Summerland', get a grip and start taking some action!

We call on the Isle of Man Government to put a memorial and landscaped gardens on the site where 50 perished so horrifically.  After 50 years this is a debt outstanding - it's time it was paid in full.
